Seize the Moment Thank You! On behalf of your 1999-2000 Top 3 Officers, (Immediate. Past District Governor Deb Grehn, DTM, Immediate. Past Lt. Gov. Education & Training Our District theme is Seize the Moment! This is our year of destiny! |

What I mean by seizing the moment is to encourage everyone to not wait till tomorrow to go after what they want. Seize the moment and do it today! So many times we fool ourselves saying that we will accomplish something tomorrow and never seem to get to it. No more! Let's live and start fulfilling our dreams today! As this applies to Toastmasters, we should be encouraging and helping every member to obtain their goals and help them fulfill the reason why they joined Toastmasters. If we do this, clubs will achieve their goals, areas will achieve their goals, divisions will achieve their goals, and the District will obtain its goal. We all win! If we all strive to do our best and be the best at what we do, I am sure that we will all succeed. To help measure our success, we have the new Distinguished Club Program. I am encouraging all the clubs to use this as their goal to obtain Distinguished Club status. Also, promote the advanced manuals because most will find that is one of the many resources they can use to fulfill their destiny. So let's all Seize the Moment! Because we never know what the future holds - let's do what we can today. Why? Because you're worth it! International President's Theme "Friends Helping Friends Succeed" Our president emphasizes that the members who stay in Toastmasters stay, because of the relationships they build and the friendships they develop. For instance, we start with our first speech. Bare our souls to a group of strangers and risk failure or ridicule. Instead, we find support and empathy. We soon realize that our club members want us to succeed. The things our president wants us to fulfill this year are: 1) Bring a friend to a meeting, 2) Revitalize your club meeting, 3) Be a team player, 4) Seek out and mentor quality leaders, and 5) Build a new Club. I will elaborate on each of these items in future mailings. Clyde D. Talley, DTM |
